  • Manufacturing Origin: These woks are produced by Pearl Metal Co., Ltd., a company based in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The products are widely recognized as "Made in Japan," leveraging the metalworking expertise of the Tsubame-Sanjo region.

  • Material and Construction: Crafted from iron (often carbon steel), these woks are designed for excellent heat conductivity and durability. They are often manufactured using spin-processing techniques to create a lightweight yet robust structure.

  • Surface Treatment: Many of these woks feature a clear lacquer coating to prevent rust during distribution, which must be removed before the initial use. Some models also utilize advanced nitriding treatments to enhance rust resistance and abrasion durability.

  • Cooking Performance: Designed for high-heat cooking, these woks develop a natural non-stick patina with consistent use, provided they are properly seasoned and maintained.

Important Care Instructions

  • Initial Preparation: Because of the protective lacquer coating, you must thoroughly clean the wok with dish soap and heat it on the stove to remove the finish before your first cook. Following this, it is recommended to "season" the pan by heating oil and stir-frying vegetable scraps to build the protective surface.

  • Maintenance: Being made of iron, these woks are susceptible to rust if stored with moisture or dirt.

    • Do not soak the wok or leave it to air dry.

    • After washing, wipe it completely dry and apply a light coating of oil before storage.
